BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After announcing its summer concert lineup, Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks now has revealed the films in its free summer Family Movies series.
The series of 10 Wednesday night movies will feature new and classic Disney fare, recent blockbusters and some films with important anniversaries.
Families are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the Levitt lawn for the films, which start at 6:30 p.m.
This year's films start May 22 with "How to Train Your Dragon," the 2019 offering from DreamWorks Animation about "growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go."
Other films in the series are:
"Tarzan (25th anniversary), May 29: Disney animated tale of the orphaned Tarzan growing up in the remote African wilderness, raised by the gentle gorilla Kala. When a British expedition enters the jungle, Tarzan encounters the beautiful Jane and recognizes that, like her, he's human.
"Encanto," June 5: The Madrigals are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto, where every child in the family has a unique gift — except Mirabel, who discovers the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger.
"Mary Poppins," June 12: The classic 1964 film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
"Elemental," June 19: The 2023 film about a city where fire, water, land and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy discover something elemental: how much they have in common.
"Toy Story 2" (25th anniversary), June 26: The 1999 film in which Woody is stolen from his home by toy dealer Al McWhiggin, leaving Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang to try to rescue him.
"Tangled," July 3 — Disney animation's 2010 version of the classic tale of "Rapunzel," who's locked away but whose long hair helps her escape.
"Lilo & Stitch," July 17 — Tale from 2002 about a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most wanted extraterrestrial.
"The Incredibles" (20th anniversary) — Lauded 2004 lauded Pixar animated film about married superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, who assume mundane lives after all super-powered activities have been banned by the government.
"Wonka," Aug. 21 — From 2023, The newest version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," starring Timothée Chalamet.
