Krauss has won 27 Grammy Awards (she’s been nominated for 48), making her the second-most-awarded female artist and the second-most-awarded singer.
Krauss was the singer and female artist with the most awards in Grammy history until Beyoncé won her 28th Grammy in 2021.
Krauss also is the fourth most-awarded artist overall in Grammy history.
She is credited with helping to renew interest in bluegrass music in the United States with her songs on the movie soundtracks of “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Cold Mountain.”
Forty years of success
Krauss began recording professionally when she was 14 and has released 20 albums in her 40-year recording career.
Her latest was “Arcadia," released in March — her first solo studio album in 14 years.
It went to No. 1 on Billboard's Bluegrass chart — her third straight to top the chart — and was her eighth to reach Top 30 on the Country albums chart.
It has been nominated for Grammy Awards for Best American Roots Performance and Best Bluegrass Album.
One of her biggest successes was the 2007 album “Raising Sand” with former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant. It went platinum and won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Please Read the Letter.”Billboard archives
