BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Music listeners who consider themselves "Teenage Dirtbags" for missing Long Island, New York, alt rockers Wheatus free at Musikfest last year have another chance.
Wheatus, best known for its 2000 single “Teenage Dirtbag,” will perform at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in Musikfest Cafe at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, it was announced.
Tickets, at $15 and $25, are on sale at www.steelstacks.org or at ArtsQuest Center at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.SteelStacks.org
Of course, this time you'll have to pay. Tickets, at $15 and $25, are on sale at www.steelstacks.org or at ArtsQuest Center at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
"Teenage Dirtbag" hit only No. 124 on Billboard's singles chart when first released. It also got attention from being used in the 2000 movie "Loser" with Jason Briggs and Mena Survari.
But it more recently got renewed attention when it was used on the HBO miniseries “Generation Kill” and the Netflix crime drama “The Girl from Plainville.”
And last year it became a TikTok trend, with Madonna, Lady Gaga and more doing covers.
But Wheatus, led by singer and songwriter Brendan B. Brown, also experienced success with its 2001 cover version of Erasure's "A Little Respect."
It since has released four more albums, the latest of which was 2013's "The Valentine LP," and three EPs, most recently 2023's "Just a Dirtbag Christmas."
Last year it also re-recorded its self-titled debut album, which included "Teenage Dirtbag."
Wheatus performed to a large crowd at AmericaPlatz, at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, during a free show at last year's Musikfest.
