The Lehigh Valley stop comes days before the comedian's three-day stintat New York City's Beacon Theater with John Oliver (tickets are still available for the Aug. 19 performance).
The two Emmy-award winners' shows "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" remain off the air in support of the Writers Guild of America strike.
Day drinking, supporting staff
Meyers paid non-writing staff a week's salary during the strike, which began in May and has halted production for several shows and movies as Hollywood's writers picket, according to NPR.
The 49-year-old got his start in television as writer in 2001 for "Saturday Night Live" and later was promoted to head writer and host of its segment "Weekend Update" with Amy Poehler.
He took over as host of NBC's "Late Night" in 2014 preceding Jimmy Fallon. The show won the Outstanding Variety Talk Series Emmy in 2022. The "Day Drinking" segment of the show has become a viral sensation, with Meyers and guests like Rihanna, Lizzo, Kelly Clarkson and the Jonas Brothers consuming cocktails, beer and wine.
"I hate being off,” he recently told Deadline. “My vacation is doing the show. It is more fun than the beach. It is more fun than skiing. I’m done early enough to see my kids at night so it’s not this thing that takes me away from my family, so there’s no upside to not doing the show. I wish we did more weeks.”
In the same interview, Meyers also addressed rumors he's tapped to become Lorne Michaels' successor.
"I’m very flattered. First of all, you have to remember, I still can’t believe I was on SNL and then I can’t believe that I got to be head writer and I got to host Weekend Update. Of everything I’ve ever had in my [career], I’m proud of nothing more than being head writer. That will always be the most important thing I’ve done.
"To hear my name in this conversation is another thing that’s so lovely and flattering. With that said, it is not a job for me. I really think everybody underestimates the idea that Lorne Michaels might just be irreplaceable."
Tickets to the show at Wind Creek start at $59.50.
