From the shelter to show biz
The Houghtons have been performing together since 1984.
As a slapstick comedy and unicycling act, they have played a variety of stages and festivals throughout the U.S. Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan. The couple also spent seven years with Dolly Parton's horse show production, Dixie Stampede.
The idea to work with dogs began in 1996, when they adopted their first pup from a shelter in Knoxville, Tennessee. Later, they began fostering dogs from a local rescue group and starting practiced rewarded based training methods.
Eventually, they adopted some more of the shelter dogs and trained them for stage life.
Mutts Gone Nuts performs at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale starting at $11-$21.
