Robert Fulton: Industrious Revolutionary at the National Museum of Industrial History

The Robert Fulton exhibit at the National Museum of Industrial History offers visitors an immersive experience to better understand the core value of the American Industrial Revolution.

During the exhibition, visitors will get to take a close look at painted miniatures, have the opportunity to run a steam engine and discover how they move ships.

Participants can also expect to discover the inner workings of a submarine by diving like a traditional Cartesian. They will be able to gain insight into this tenacious revolutionary by browsing Fulton’s personal documents.

As an American engineer, Fulton developed the first commercial steamboat successfully and was a huge inspiration to push the limit of mechanical engineering in the country. His innovations helped usher in a significant wave of globalized trade on a scale never seen before, ignited the American Industrial Revolution and unlocked new trade routes.

Plan a visit here and learn more about how Fulton started a trend of technological advancement that would later come to represent American ingenuity and leave an exceptional legacy.

The exhibit runs until Aug. 13. Tickets are required for admission. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.
