Country music duo Dan + Shay will headline Musikfest on Aug. 6

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Country music stars Dan + Shay were announced Monday as the second headline act for the 40th year of Bethlehem's Musikfest festival.

The duo, known for its songs "Tequila," "Speechless" and "All to Myself," will perform Aug. 6.

They join a previously announced Aug. 9 show by alt-rockers Goo Goo Dolls and O.A.R. in Musikfest’s main stage lineup.

  • Tickets go on sale Friday

Tickets, at $69 to $99 and $264 for the Steel Terrace, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday at the ArtsQuest Center box office at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.

The announcement, as with the Goo Goo Dolls-O.A.R. show, comes in time for tickets to be bought as holiday gifts.

Musikfest will run Aug. 4-13 in downtown Bethlehem and the SteelStacks campus in South Bethlehem.

Dan + Shay last played in the Lehigh Valley when it opened for Thomas Rhett at Allentown Fair in 2017.

Dan + Shay in 2021 notched its third consecutive Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance — the first artist ever to win three in a row.

That honor came after the duo's 2018 song “Tequila” sold seven times platinum and had nearly 1.5 billion global streams, putting it among the Top 15 most streamed country songs of all time.

Its follow-up song "Speechless" the same year sold six times platinum. Both songs reached No. 1 on the country charts.

Its 2019 song "10,000 Hours" with Justin Bieber sold four times platinum.

Dan + Shay broke onto the charts in 2013 with the platinum hit "You + Me," and in 2016 had the double-platinum hit "From the Ground Up."

Its latest hit was last year's "Glad You Exist," which also hit No. 1 and sold platinum. Its latest single is "Steal My Love."

Musikfest for the past two years has not only returned from the pandemic restrictions, but added an 11th headline act by offering a Thursday “preview” concert. It was country star Darius Rucker in 2021 and Boyz II Men last year.
