Starstruck: An American Tale presented by Lehigh University Art Galleries
Bethlehem is beyond a city of the steel industry; it is a “microcosm of America.”
Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) is presenting a Bethlehem-focused exhibit titled “Starstruck: An American Tale” which features a smaller-scale Bethlehem Star and a film to showcase Bethlehem’s position in American history.
The piece was made by Shimon Attie, a visual artist whose works focus largely on immersive multiple-channel video and mixed-media installations.
Between two large screens, a scaled-down replica of the renowned Bethlehem Star glows brightly as part of the installation. The videos on the two screens feature a film production spotlighting some of Bethlehem's diverse population.
The exhibit's Bethlehem Star glistens in vivid colors and spins like a roulette wheel as the scenes of Bethlehem's economic boom and crush play on the screens.
The LUAG website writes: “Attie’s project investigates this distinctly American brew of religious utopian fervor, industrial capitalism’s rise and fall, and finally its reinvention in catering to the hopes and dreams of making it big on the part of casino goers.”
Sounds intriguing? Seize the chance to visit because the exhibit only runs through Dec. 3. It is located at LUAG Main Gallery, Zoellner Arts Center. The gallery hours vary throughout the week. Check it out here.

If you find yourself a homebody who just wants to chill and is seeking indoor entertainment, our digital producer Stephanie Sigafoos has you covered!
Binging Netflix on the weekend may not be anything special, but this time it’s a bit different: a new show featuring a crime story in the Lehigh Valley just debuted Wednesday on Netflix.
“The Good Nurse” tells the story of serial killer nurse Charles Cullen who had committed murders for 16 years, some of which happened at hospitals throughout the Lehigh Valley.
In addition to presenting the frightening true story, the show also sparks thought-provoking questions about the country’s health care system.
