LOWER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. — Follow the beat of the drums and be prepared to paint. An art and music studio for adults and kids alike will hold an open house this weekend.

Staff from Creative Learning Lab,a company that offers voice, music, painting and crochet classes, will hold the event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The studio is at 5160 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township.

Among the scheduled activities are painting, music and movement classes for toddlers and door prizes for the first 50 attendees and a basket raffle.

Art, music classes

The event is open to families, educators, adults, musicians artists and everyone else interested in exploring new and creative musical and artistic educational opportunities, owner Christine Favata said.

Favata and her husband opened the studio in 2017 to share their love of music and arts with the community.

"It has now blossomed into a studio of more than 50 current music students, 30 art students, and multiple instructors with diverse backgrounds," she said.

The studio employs eight private music instructors and offers voice and instrumental classes for children and adults.

The instruments range from piano and voice, to woodwinds and percussion, Favata noted.

"Our instructors tailor their lessons to fit the needs of each individual student, with the belief that each student learns and develops in their own unique way," she said.

The studio also offers classes on mixed media, ceramics for children (ages 5 and up), plus illustration and crochet for adults and children.

After completion, students are encouraged to submit their works for the Creative Lab's annual showcase at Midnight Gallery in Schnecksville.

'Mommy and me'

"Within the last year, we have expanded our client base to include infants through preschoolers with the understanding that the arts help brain development," Favata said.

The "Toddler Mommy and Me" art classes are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays and cost $10 per class.

For the musically inclined, there is a music and movement class ($10 per session) held on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The 60-minute course incorporates songs and movement, social time and instrument exploration.

Summer camp, preschool

Starting in fall, the studio will hold a music and art immersion program for pre-schoolers.

The three-day program aims to help students develop basic scholastic skills through music and art themes.

For adults, the studio will hold a monthly paint-and-sip session, a Bob Ross painting class, and a cookie decorating class with an instructor from Well Hello Cookie in Allentown.
