ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Three Allentown high school students have been awarded $3,000-per-year scholarships for their college careers by the Rotary Club of Allentown.
Anna Edwards from Central Catholic High School, and Maryana Memari and Cody Tahhan from Louis E. Dieruff High School, were selected to receive the Rotary Club’s Roger and Louise Mullin Scholarships, the club announced.
Each will receive $3,000 per year for a maximum amount of $12,000 over their four collegiate years beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The scholarships are awarded to outstanding students from Allentown high schools who will attend a four-year college or university. Candidates were evaluated on their community service, leadership skills, academic achievement, financial need and interview skills.
Edwards will attend the College of Holy Cross while Memari and Tahhan will attend Lehigh University, according to the Rotary Club.
The late Roger W. Mullin Jr. was a Rotarian and former chairman of the board of Mack Trucks. He presented a scholarship endowment gift to the Allentown Rotary Scholarship Foundation in 1993.
Since the early 1990s, the Rotary Club of Allentown has provided students more than $375,000 in scholarships. The club is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year.
