The Lehigh Valley Pet Expo occurs Feb. 2 - Feb. 4 at the Allentown Fairgrounds

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Something animalistic will be unleashed this weekend.

The Lehigh Valley Pet Expo returns to the Agri-Plex inside Allentown Fairgrounds from Friday, Feb. 2, to Sunday, Feb. 4.

During the three days, there will be educational exhibitions with dogs, cats, alpacas, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, reptiles and other furry creatures.

New this year will be four-legged demonstrations by local K-9 organizations such as Neverland K9 Training, Canine Good Citizen Testing and PA Wilderness Search and Rescue.

Dogs and their handlers, such as Gail Mirabella and The Dynamo Dogs, will present magic and tricks performances — plus agility and training classes where owners can learn about different ways to discipline their pooches.

In addition, dogs and their handlers, such as Gail Mirabella and The Dynamo Dogs, will present magic and tricks performances — plus agility and training classes where owners can learn about different ways to discipline their pooches.

Bring Fido to the fun: The dog lovers lure course offers a chance for pups to run through an agility course that is used in canine training (visitors are allowed to bring their well-behaved, leashed pets to the expo).

For feline-fun, there will be an all-day cat show and parade at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Lizards, alpacas, gifts and vendors

The expo also will feature a rainforest reptile show and an Alpacas 101 class, plus a potbelly pig exhibit and a rabbit-hopping show.

A petting zoo and pony rides also will be available.

Ticketholders can also get their photo taken with Gus, the Brahman Bull, a famous rodeo/movie star.

More than 50 vendors will sell new products and items not often found at a regular pet store, including dog apparel and accessories, animal food, and pet-related clothing for humans.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and military members and $5 for ages 4-12.
