Lehigh Valley IronPigs will transform into "Corgis" for its annual canine-themed event on Aug. 1.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Prepare for a tail-wagging spectacle as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs pay tribute to the adored Corgi breed in its annual canine-themed extravaganza.

  • Lehigh Valley IronPigs will transform into the "Corgis" for an annual canine-themed event on Aug. 1
  • Special Corgis jerseys and caps worn by players will be auctioned to benefit Animal Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley
  • Dog show, adoption information, and a dog-friendly atmosphere will be featured during the event

On Tuesday, Aug. 1, the event will consist of the IronPigs transforming into the "Corgis" for the day, donning special jerseys and caps featuring a Corgi logo.

This marks the fourth time the IronPigs celebrate human's best friend, having previously paid tribute to other breeds such as the IronPugs, IronWeiners and IronMutts. By choosing to honor the Corgis this year, the team says it aims to recognize the unique charm and popularity of the breed.

"What started out as a typo with 'IronPugs' has now become an annual can't-miss event for all dog lovers."

"We host Dog Days every Tuesday, but we make sure on one special date each year we go out of our way to salute our canine friends. What started out as a typo with 'IronPugs' has now become an annual can't-miss event for all dog lovers," IronPigs President and General Manager Kurt Landes said in a statement.

The Corgis jerseys and caps worn by the players on Aug.1 will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting the Animal Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley, which helps families facing economic distress by providing them with pet food to prevent the surrender of companion animals to shelters.

To complement the event, the IronPigs Clubhouse Store now offers a range of Corgis-themed merchandise for sale. Fans can visit the store at Coca-Cola Park or browse online to explore the selection.

During the game, several local nonprofit dog rescue organizations will be present at Coca-Cola Park, providing adoption information on the concourse.

Among the participating organizations are Road Trip Rescues, Lehigh County Humane Society, Red Rock Rescue, Freedom First Rescue, Peacable Kingdom, Paws 2 Freedom and The Sanctuary at Haafsville.

This initiative aims to raise awareness about dog adoption and support the efforts of these dedicated rescues.

The event will feature various dog-related activities on and off the field. Fans attending the game can witness a dog show to determine winners in different categories.

In line with the theme, the day will be celebrated as Tail Waggin' Tuesday presented by TD Bank, allowing fans to bring their dogs, regardless of breed, to the ballgame. Furthermore, the game will include a Dollar Hot Dog promotion presented by Berks.

Tickets are currently available for purchase online or by phone at (610) 841-PIGS (7447).
