Blues, Brews and BBQ to take over downtown Allentown again

The 17th annual Blues, Brews and Barbecue festival is scheduled to run from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday along Hamilton Street.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Tens of thousands of music, beer and barbecue fans are expected to descend on downtown Allentown on Saturday.

The 17th annual Blues, Brews and Barbecue festival is scheduled to run from noon to 8 p.m. along Hamilton Street between Eighth and 12th streets.

The lineup features more than a dozen performers across four stages, including Lehigh Valley-based bands Co. Spirals, The Audio Files and James Supra.

A barbecue competition will feature a showdown of the Lehigh Valley’s “top pitmasters,” including Atomic Hogs, Grumpy’s, Granny Jz’s, Taste Smokers, Grill N’ Chill Spot, and Lenwood BBQ.
Organizers

“Retro soul-rocker” Shane Guerrette will open for Southern blues-rock band Parker Burrow, which is headlining the festival, according to organizers.

The event is set to spotlight local beer and wine makers, including Allentown Brew Works, Bru Daddy’s, County Seats, Franklin Hill, Hijinx and Social Still.

And a barbecue competition will feature a showdown of the Lehigh Valley’s “top pitmasters,” including Atomic Hogs, Grumpy’s, Granny Jz’s, Taste Smokers, Grill N’ Chill Spot and Lenwood BBQ.

Other food vendors include Atomic Hogs, Danny’s Fine Foods, Grumpy’s BBQ Roadhouse, Sports & Social and You Got Pork’d.

All day-parking is available for $5 at three city garages: the Spiral Deck, the 940 Deck and the Maple Street Deck.

The free festival has drawn more than 25,000 people in past years.
