ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Crews are putting the final touches on this year’s Lights in the Parkway display.
A small group of reporters and other guests were invited Thursday night for a preview of the 29th annual display, which will open to the public on Black Friday.
Lights in the Parkway is scheduled to run from 5:30-10 p.m. daily from Nov. 28 through Jan. 6, though it will close for two days each around Christmas and New Year’s.Lights in the Parkway release
Seasonal favorites such as “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — as well as some R&B tracks — played through car radios to provide the soundtrack for the display of holiday lights that stretches more than a mile.
The radio station tailored for the event also included greetings and messages from city officials, including Mayor Matt Tuerk and Public Works Director Mark Shahda, as well as well-known locals such as La Mega FM owner and host Victor Martinez.
New features
The 2025 Lights in the Parkway features three new train displays to accompany the classic Toyland train.
And the stone house and log cabin displays have new programmable lights that make them “shine brighter than ever,” officials said in a frequently-asked-questions section on the city’s site.
Lights in the Parkway is scheduled to run from 5:30-10 p.m. daily from Nov. 28 through Jan. 6, though it will close for two days each around Christmas and New Year’s.
Guests must purchase tickets before arriving, and weekend tickets are restricted by time slots.
The event typically lasts 20-25 minutes, with guests asked to drive through the display at 5 mph.
The city will continue offering opportunities to walk or bike through the course free on Mondays. Move It Mondays do not require reservations.
Run Lehigh Valley is set to hold its Lights in the Parkway 5K at 7 p.m. Wednesday, two nights before the display opens.
