The Allentown Fire Department's Underwater Recovery Team pulled the body of 28-year-old Jaquan Poston from the Lehigh River on Thursday, Aug. 21.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The identity of a man who died when he jumped from the Tilghman Street Bridge on Thursday has been released.

Jaquan Poston, 28, of Allentown, drowned Thursday after witnesses saw him jump into the Lehigh River about 12:40 p.m. Thursday, according to Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio.

Poston’s body was recovered from the river around 4:45 p.m.; he was pronounced dead a half-hour later, Buglio said.

The river was about 10 feet deep where Poston’s body was found, according to the coroner.

The manner of his death remains under investigation, Buglio said.

Allentown Fire Department’s Underwater Recovery and Technical Rescue teams were helped by city police and EMTs, the Whitehall Fire Department’s Dive Team, and Lehigh County’s Special Operations and Drone teams.
