ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A 29-year-old Allentown man died after he was struck by a vehicle in the 2000 block of South Fourth Street, the county coroner said.

It happened at 7:55 p.m. Friday “following an incident” but Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio did not elaborate in a news release issued Saturday.

Authorities identified the victim but are not immediately releasing his name. An autopsy is set for Monday.

Allentown police Capt. Christopher Diehl said he could not release information on the striking vehicle — or whether the driver has been identified or is cooperating — because it remains "an active and ongoing" investigation.

The victim was pronounced dead at 8:43 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Buglio said.

Besides the coroner’s office, Allentown police and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
