Police investigating death of Allentown man after assault: Coroner

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — An Allentown man died Monday, four days after he was assaulted in the city, and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office has ruled it homicide.

Mastapha Brown, 38, was pronounced dead Monday morning at St. Luke’s University Hospital's main campus in Fountain Hill, Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said Thursday in a news release.

Brown told police he was punched and knocked to the ground by a man he did not know about 6:40 p.m. March 9 near 10th and West Linden streets, Allentown Police Captain Daniel Gross said in a news release.
Brown refused treatment from Allentown EMS and police that night, but he was later taken to the hospital, Gross said.

Brown died of blunt-force trauma to his head, Buglio said. Allentown police and the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force are investigating Brown’s death.
