ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The former Dave Phillips Music & Sound store on Allentown’s East Side is set to become an urgent care clinic.
The 17,000-square-foot building was purchased for $1.4 million in March 2022 by Thomas Walker, CEO of Action Project Management.
- The former Dave Phillips Music & Sound on Allentown's East Side is getting new life
- The building will become an urgent care clinic
- It will be operated by AFC Urgent Care
The first floor of the building will be turned into an AFC Urgent Care center, a news release said Tuesday.
AFC has one other Lehigh Valley location at the Hamilton Crossings Shopping Center in Lower Macungie Township.
AFC (American Family Care) started as an urgent care, family care, and primary care practice in Birmingham, Alabama. It now has more than 200 facilities across 26 states, treating nearly three million patients a year.
Walker said he chose to open the urgent care clinic because he is interested in serving the community and believes it will be an asset to the East Side, expanding health care options for people in the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
AFC will occupy about 80% of the first floor of the building at 622 Union Blvd., with medical offices set to fill the remainder of the space.
Dave Phillips Music & Sound served Lehigh Valley musicians for 40 years but closed in 2018 and consolidated its business to its remaining store at 377 Irwin St. in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
