BETHLEHEM, Pa. - If your Zoom background is looking a little dull these days, here’s an idea:
This weekend, the Lehigh Valley Wicked Fall Plant Festival is bringing a few hundred varieties of plants to Allentown.
Festival organizer Dawn Ash is the owner of The Wicked Botanist in Bethlehem. She said caring for plants became a hobby for many people during COVID-19.
“When everybody was locked up in their house and they couldn’t have the interaction with people, they turned to plants. They lend an aesthetic to your house, they clean your air, they improve your mood and they help with focus,” Ash said.
Plants at the event will range in price from a few bucks to a few hundred bucks.
“One of the more expensive plants that we have is the monstera albo. That’s a plant that would normally grow in the wild. You can have it for years and years and pass it down to your family,” Ash said.
There will be food, music, crafts and a “plant photo booth.” So, guests can snap a picture with their BFF plant.
There will be a couple dozen plant vendors at the festival which will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at South Mountain Grove picnic area in Allentown.
