BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A global health crisis has canceled countless graduation ceremonies. Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts found a creative way to safely celebrate their graduating seniors.

The Bethlehem ‘Charter Arts’ Class of 2020 threw on their caps and gowns to meet up with a school bus filled with teachers and staff waving, cheering and wishing them well. With students from over 40 different area school districts, educators took this year’s graduation celebration on the road, parking at more than 10 stops across the Lehigh Valley.

Diane LaBelle is the school’s Executive Director and CEO.

“Our students were waiting in the car with their parents and everybody was in their masks and safe distancing and then each graduate had the opportunity to stand in front of the bus with the balloons and the signs, with their families and our school took photographs,” said LaBelle.

The school still hopes to have a more formal graduation in late July with multiple small ceremonies for students and their families.
