Lehigh Valley International Airport will temporarily close down after Labor Day for some major improvements.

HANOVER TWP., LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. - On July 1, the Department of Transportation awarded an $8-million grant to LVIA for much needed taxiway and runway improvements.

“The funding will enable the airport to maintain its standard of safety and make improvements in infrastructure, which will help to bolster the Lehigh Valley’s economy,” says Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA).

According to airport officials scheduled runway maintenance from Sept. 17-20 and again Sept. 27-29 will leave all Lehigh Valley International Airport flights grounded.

Officials are estimating LVIA saw roughly 80,000 passengers in June, which is only 9,000 fewer than June of 2019.
