Heads up! Here are 5 things you don't want to miss today

The 5 Things team here at LehighValleyNews.com is in a whirlwind frenzy over next week's election. One of our colleagues made a very valid point today: Election Day is more than just Nov. 8 this year, and has been since mail-in ballots have become so popular. So is it now more accurate to say "voting ends Nov. 8" rather than Tuesday is Election Day?

Today is also National Candy Day. While our team was researching national days, we found National Vodka Day to be ever-so-much-more appealing. Unfortunately, that was Oct. 4. We missed it.

1. Look for a sunny day around 70 degrees today, says the National Weather Servicein Mt. Holly, NJ. Looks like a cloudy weekend, it says. If you're trying to get outside, Saturday looks beautiful, while Sunday will bring a slight chance of showers.

2. Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the Democratic candidate for governor, plans to visit a teamsters' hall in Whitehall Township today.

3. Candidate for U.S. Senate, Democrat John Fetterman popped into the Lehigh Valley Thursday to speak to supporters at a canvassing event.

4. Candidate for U.S. Senate, Republican Mehmet Oz plans a visit on Sunday.

5. Coming up: An exclusive! LehighValleyNews.com reporter Sarah Mueller was the only member of the media to have breakfast at the Ham Fam in Allentown with Mayor Matt Tuerk and the new ASD Acting Superintendent, Carol Birks.
