Heads up! Here are 5 things you don't want to miss today

Looks like we'll be sacrificing some of the beautiful weather as we inch our way closer to the weekend. But here are some things that will help you get to Friday.

1. Here it comes: Heavy rain and gusty winds are expected Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service at Mt. Holly, NJ, says there's an 80% chance of showers or a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. New rainfall of up to an inch is possible and a high temp of 69 degrees. But it gets better after that.

2. Bethlehem officials are looking into the possibility of building a Southside community center. Activists say the people it will serve must have a voice in its creation and that it must be in a location accessible to all. BASD Superintendent Joseph Roy said it needs to be a place, "To celebrate athletics, to celebrate the arts, and to celebrate each other.”

3. The doctors who treated several children who were sickened by carbon monoxide fumes on Tuesday share the story of the challenges they faced in addition to the medical emergency at hand. Translators helped with the littles' care since several did not speak English. All are doing better, the doctors say. Meanwhile, the day care owner expects to reopen the facility on Monday.

4. Remember that "maple syrup smell"Bethlehem residents were noticing a couple weeks ago? Well, the source has been identified and cited. Spray Tek LLC, located on Avenue B in the Lehigh Valley Industrial Park, describes itself as a provider of custom spray drying devices to companies. Representatives from the company had no comment.

5. Coming up: Ryan Kneller tells us about a brewery in Southside Bethlehem that is very close to completion. Maybe not for this weekend, but soon.
