HARRISBURG, Pa. - Lehigh and Northampton counties will be among the last counties in the state to go green.
That means all businesses can reopen - including gyms, salons, movie theaters and bars. Indoor dining can resume at restaurants and public gatherings up to 250 people are allowed.
Mask-wearing and social distancing guidelines remain. And mitigation strategies are required for all businesses - including reduced capacities at many sites.
Gov. Tom Wolf says those restrictions will remain in place for the near future - but he says he does not plan to move any counties back to more limited yellow or red phases.
“The way that we’re going to address whatever we face moving forward before we get a vaccine or a cure is going to probably look very different. I’m not sure the red, yellow green thing makes any sense. So we’re working on what that new normal is going to be,” said Wolf.
Wolf says the state is better prepared to handle an uptick in cases now than it was three months ago, with ample supplies of respirators and PPE, and new contact tracing options. He says the post-red-yellow-green phase of reopening will be developed with those gains in mind.
