HARRISBURG, Pa. - It’s the 50th anniversary of our state’s Green Amendment.
Pennsylvania’s Green Amendment states “the people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment.”
The state’s First Lady, Frances Wolf, took a moment to share just how much there is to protect.
“Pennsylvania is home to 2.2 million acres of lush forest, rugged mountain trails and roaring rivers. We could go on and on about the magnificent wonders of our commonwealth,” she says.
Additionally, Wolf announced a partnership with the state’s Leadership, Education and Farming (LEAF) program that teaches young Pennsylvanians about farming.
The partnership will allow produce grown in the governor’s vegetable garden to be used to help community hunger relief efforts.
