WASHINGTON - Pfc. Jeffrey Dollak of Jim Thorpe is one of the thousands tasked with keeping the peace for the Inauguration following the violent protests on Jan. 6.
“So far I haven’t really seen anything crazy going on,” Dollak says, “There’s not many people walking around due to COVID, I assume, and the security, so there’s not much attention going on here.”
Dollack enlisted just two years ago. He’s a technician helping to maintain hundreds of vehicles sent to D.C. from Pennsylvania.
“I make sure everybodies is within their civil rights, and be able to express their rights, make sure that there's no harm done to buildings, make sure everything goes peacefully. We're only here to make sure that the people are okay and to make sure there's no damage done to buildings and just make sure that it goes smoothly,” he says
Pennsylvania National Guardsmen make up 10 percent of the troops currently deployed to Washington DC. They are expected to remain there until at least Jan. 25.
