BETHLEHEM, Pa. - But as WLVR’s Tracy Yatsko reports, some registered voters may need to re-apply to vote by mail in the fall.
About 43-thousand Northampton County voters registered to vote by mail in the June primary. Of those, 32-thousand will automatically receive mail-in ballots next month. That’s because they checked off the annual mail-in request box on their original application, according to Elections Director Amy Cozze.
However, she says 10 to 15,000 people did not select that option, which means those voters have to re-apply for November.
And people should do that as soon as possible - to avoid administrative delays.
Once voters receive a ballot, Cozze says they should return it quickly and not to wait until the last minute.
She also says that mail-in voting is secure and there are measures in place to prevent fraud.
The Pennsylvania Department of State announced Friday that all mail and absentee ballots for the fall election will include postage-paid return envelopes. Those with questions can call the Northampton County elections office or check online at pavoterservices.pa.gov.
