EASTON, Pa. — Get ready to jump headfirst into the summer season this weekend at Scott Park, where Easton Farmers’ Market will present Strawberry Day — with a special surprise.
Presented by Capital Blue, Saturday’s market will kick off at 9 a.m., featuring fresh, locally grown strawberries and ready-to-eat treats from the area’s favorite food purveyors, as well as performances and contests throughout the day.
- Strawberry Day is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Scott Park in Easton
- Fresh strawberries and tasty treats will be available from multiple local vendors
- The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Company will present "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and musician Ricky Delgado will perform, as well
The West Ward Market officially kicked off Easton’s Strawberry Days on Wednesday, and Saturday’s jam session is set to provide visitors with the top picks of the patch.
According to Easton Market District Director Megan McBride, while the hot, dry weather may be divisive for people, it just so happens to be perfect for berries.
"It’s actually a really great year for berries because it's been so hot and dry. Berries actually really like that weather, and that's working out well for us.”Easton Market District Director Megan McBride

Exciting outdoor entertainment
McBride highlighted that the event will “have everything from strawberry crepes to strawberry shortcake” and just about anything in between.
Guests can pick up fresh strawberries from Phillips Farms and Lafayette College’s LaFarm, strawberry shortcakes from K&S Grille and strawberry crepes from Zekraft.
Also, strawberry cheesecake ice cream and strawberry rhubarb from Nesting Box Creamery, strawberry Pop Tarts and frozen strawberry margarita pie from Pie+Tart and strawberry craft slushies from Social Still Distillery.
Also, strawberry popsicles, lemonades and smoothies from Green Vida Co., strawberry cream cruffins and strawberry danish from Flour Shop Bakery, and strawberry crumb pies and strawberry rhubarb pies at Tomblers.
Strawberries won’t be the only stars of the show, McBride said. There also will be plenty of exciting outdoor entertainment.
“We're really excited about partnering with Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, they're going to be doing a live performance of ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ at the market on the Scott Park stage, so that's going to be really nice," McBride said.
"And we'll also have live music from 10 to noon with Ricky Delgado."
Collecting for a cause
In addition, organizers will collect funding for victims of the Ferry Street Fire that devastated Easton this week.
"We will be collecting for the Ferry Street Fire Fund that was put together by United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley and the Greater Easton Development Partnership," McBride said.

Fortunately, Saturday at Scott Park will be significantly cooler than the past few days of the week, offering strawberry fanatics a chance to enjoy the festival without the blistering heat.
So when you’re getting ready for Strawberry Day, make sure to deck yourself out in their finest strawberry attire and register for the Berry Cute Contests, featuring prizes for the “berry” cutest babies, kids, puppies, and even adults.
But of course, the big draw will always be those sweet, succulent strawberries — and McBride certainly is hankering for a classic favorite.
“You just can't beat homemade strawberry shortcake so, I'm definitely looking forward to that,” McBride said.
