EASTON, Pa. — The city administrator has been hospitalized after he collapsed while running on Wednesday, Mayor Sal Panto Jr. confirmed.

Details about what caused Campos to collapse currently are undisclosed, though Panto confirmed he's able to breathe on his own at the moment.

“That's all I know so far," Panto said. "I mean, they're trying to determine why his heart stopped. He’s still critical, but he is in the hospital."

Prior to taking his position as city administrator, Campos served as a director of the Northampton County administration before leaving for the Easton job in June 2016.

Campos previously worked as a director of sales and marketing at RestoreCore, a business focused on assisting people with recovering from floods and fire damage.

Campos received a bachelor’s degree at Muhlenberg College in 1999 and a master’s degree in public policy at Lehigh University in 2001.

“He certainly has our prayers. Luis has been a very high stakeholder in our city’s current changes. We certainly have prayers for him now.”
