LOWER MACUNGIE TWP. — The case involving the Giant grocery store employee tampering food products with sewing needles has been resolved, the Lehigh County District Attorney office says.

The Lehigh County District Attorney office said the juvenile charged with the tampering at the 7150 Hamilton Boulevard store in Lower Macungie Township appeared Thursday in juvenile court and admitted to the allegations.

On April 24 the employee was charged with three counts of recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor, and one count of criminal mischief as a result of a state police investigation.
Eleven needles were found in various products and were returned by customers on April 19, including produce, Tastykakes, bread rolls, pet food, StarKist tuna pouches and cleaning sponges.
No injuries were reported as a result.
In a statement, a representative from Giant said it was an isolated incident with no other locations affected. The employee was terminated immediately following the incident.
