"It will save many lives for cats with no voices.”Stephany Gallagher, President of FURR
"It will save many lives for cats with no voices," said Stephany Gallagher, president of FURR.
She said she hopes the investment "will enable FURR to help many cats in our communities with spay and neuter services and medical attention."
FURR is a nonprofit agency whose volunteers work to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, in order to reduce the number of community cats.
It has served the Lehigh Valley area since 2003, finding homes for over 4,300 cats and kittens. In 2022, the organization found homes for 662 cats, according to its data.
“Our investment in Feline Urban Rescue and Rehab is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country," said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love, "as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized.
“Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us."
The organization also recently launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost-and-found database. It uses pet image recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.
