Hanover Twp., Lehigh County, Pa. - Lehigh Valley International Airport is considering adding new direct flights to Puerto Rico.

Airport officials say they are surveying residents throughout the region about interest in service to San Juan.

In a written statement, officials said answers will be helpful in their talks with major airlines about bringing more service options to LVIA which currently offers 15 non-stop domestic flights.

Anyone can participate in the survey on the airport’s website

“Research and data obtained by this survey is extremely helpful when the airport discusses short-range and long-range opportunities with airlines to bring non-stop service that benefits communities surrounding ABE,” wrote Thomas R. Stoudt, executive director of the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority.

“We want to reinforce the need for a new route by showing there is solid demand and community support,” he said.
