Patchy snow at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in December 2020

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. - Skiing and snowboarding are generally safe activities, since people wear masks, gloves and goggles while outdoors.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort near Macungie is adjusting operations that aren’t so socially distant. Director of Marketing Gary Kline says they are discouraging use of the indoor lodge. Instead...

“We are encouraging people to use their car this year as sort of their lodge. Put your boots on in your car, store your belongings in your car, and take a break in your car.”

The resort also built a food truck and is creating more space for outdoor dining with heaters and tents.

If you’re looking to hit the slopes here this winter, you’re going to have to buy your tickets online because capacity is limited.

This resort doesn’t have an opening date yet, but ski resorts in the Poconos opened over the weekend.
