Suspect at large following Wednesday shooting in Bethlehem

Bethlehem resident Allen Jahmell Grimes, 18, is still at large after the BPD Emergency Response Team wasn’t successful in its search of his home within the 600 block of Cherokee Street at around 9:30 p.m. that evening.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Bethlehem Police Department is searching for a suspect in the shooting of a woman Wednesday in the city's South Side.

Allen Jahmell Grimes, 18, of Bethlehem is at large after the police Emergency Response Team searched his home in the 600 block of Cherokee Street about 9:30 p.m. that evening.

Grimes is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possessing instruments of crime.

“Statements from a male that was with the victim at the time indicated that he and Grimes know each other, and that he previously had a conflict with Grimes."

The shooting sent a 22-year-old female to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim is reported to be in stable condition.

“Statements from a male that was with the victim at the time indicated that he and Grimes know each other, and that he previously had a conflict with Grimes,” a police statement reads.

Video footage from the scene showed the suspect entering a vehicle before and proceeding on foot following the shooting.
