UPDATE: As of Thursday evening, all Peepsfest tickets for Saturday and Sunday are sold out, according to the SteelStacks website.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - New York City has the Tiffany ball. Lebanon, Pa., has bologna. And Kennett Square drops a mushroom.

But in Bethlehem, it’s all about the Peep.

PeepsFest is back this Saturday and Sunday at the SteelStacks campus in Bethlehem. Family-friendly activities are planned from 3 to 6 p.m. both days, culminating on each with a countdown and Peeps chick drop at 5:35 p.m., followed by fireworks.

The 400-pound Peeps chick drop is a tradition started at SteelStacks at the end of 2009 in cooperation with Just Born Quality Confections, the Bethlehem candy-maker behind Peeps, Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales and Goldenberg's Peanut Chews.

Tickets for this year’s Peepsfest are $5 each and available for purchase here.

The Ice Rink at SteelStacks remains open and skate sessions are available between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. during Peepsfest, according to ArtsQuest, the nonprofit group that organizes the year-end festival. For $25, people get admission to Peepsfest and a skating session.

On Saturday, a $10 ticket includes Peepsfest general admission as well as entry for the Peepsonality Family Fun Run/Walk being held that day. Early entry for that is at 1:30 p.m.

ArtsQuest says tickets for all events are limited, so it’s best to purchase in advance rather than day-of or at the gates.

General admission tickets to Peepsfest include Just Born goodie bags for all kids under 12, a free s’mores kit for all kids under 12, Peeps sampling stations and live musical performances.
