BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Bethlehem Mayor William Reynolds is bringing on a new member to his administration.
The new mayor on Tuesday night announced the hiring of longtime Lehigh Valley journalist Sara Satullo.
Satullo, who has covered Bethlehem for lehighvalleylive.comand The Express-Times, will join Reynolds' team as deputy director of community and economic development.
The job pays $91,728 a year and Satullo is scheduled to start May 4, according to the administration.
Reynolds says Satullo will help lead pandemic recovery with her grasp of issues such as affordable housing and homelessness, and bring an outsiders' view of city hall.
In his State of the City address earlier this month, Reynolds discussed the launch of a website, We Build Bethlehem, to improve civic engagement and solicit ideas to spur pandemic recovery.
At lehighvalleylive, Satullo recently wrapped up a seven-month reporting project, Edged Out, about issues facing South Bethlehem and its residents.
The project was part of a national fellowship held by Satullo with the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism.
She discussed the project in a conversation with WLVR's Brad Klein in February. You can get a look -- and listen -- at this link.
