Three Kings Day is returning to the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks on Sunday, Jan. 7.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Three Kings Day will return to the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.

Also known as Dia de los Reyes, the observance is a Christian feast day that commemorates the Biblical story of the three kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child.

The 12th annual free event will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7.

Three Kings Day is a cherished religious and cultural tradition of many Latin American countries.

“We continue to share these traditions with our children during the celebration at ArtsQuest to ensure these holiday traditions are preserved for generations to come.”
Myrna Rivera, an ArtsQuest Board of Trustees member and chairwoman of its Latin Programming Committee

“Growing up in Bethlehem with Puerto Rican parents, the Christmas holiday season always included many festivities with family and friends,” said Myrna Rivera, an ArtsQuest Board of Trustees member and chairwoman of its Latin Programming Committee.

“We also celebrated joyfully by singing and dancing to parranda music, eating traditional Puerto Rican meals and most importantly making sure the young children received gifts and/or treats.

During the Three Kings Day celebration, children are encouraged to come to hear a reading of the Story of the Three Kings followed by gift giving.

Children also can take part in a variety of fun-filled activities, including arts and crafts, a visit with Einstein the Snow Camel, delicious food for sale from Holy Infancy Church and live musical performances.

The ice-skating rink will hold Three Kings Day, with host La Mega radio station, with both the 2:30 and 4:15 p.m. skating sessions. Tickets can be obtained atchristmascity.org
