Frank DellaPenna performs his Cast in Bronze show late at night at Handwerkplatz at Musikfest. The area of the festival will remain closed today, Aug. 7.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The result of heavy rain Tuesday has left one of Musikfest's musical stages closed today, the festival said.

Handwerkplatz, located in the festival's Colonial Quarters area near Monocacy Creek, will remain closed today, Aug. 7, the festival said on its social media.

The only artist scheduled at Handwerkplatz today was masked carillon player Cast in Bronze, with four hourly performances 5-8 p.m.

Handwerkplatz also features stands where artists sell their wares.

A severe downpour with lightning ended country music group Old Dominion's sold-out headline concert on Musikfest's main Steel Stage after just a half hour of music Tuesday.

Musikfest also Tuesday said that because of the forecast "and in an abundance of caution," the festival areas in Handwerkplatz and the adjacent Familienplatz would be closed to the public.

That area of Musikfest sometimes floods during or after heavy rain.

Familienplatz will reopen at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 7, and Handwerkplatz will reopen tomorrow as scheduled, with hourly Cast in Bronze shows from 5 to 8 p.m.
