ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Allentown Police Department wants to know how it’s doing.

The department launched a survey Wednesday to collect residents’ opinions on community policing, police response and crime prevention according to a news release.

The survey consists of 16 questions, many of which are to determine respondents’ demographics and level of interaction and experience with the Allentown Police Department.

But answers to 10 more substantive questions on the survey “will help to frame the APD's strategic priorities and initiatives for the future,” the release states.

Allentown police officials want residents, business owners, visitors and others to anonymously share their biggest concerns within their communities; their thoughts on APD’s performance, responses to calls and treatment of residents; and their level of trust in the department.

Gathering residents’ feedback will help department leaders “ensure our strategic plan is reflective of (community members’) needs and priorities,” Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca said.

“The perspectives of our residents are invaluable as we chart the course for the Allentown Police Department,” Roca said.

Results from the survey will be made public by the police department, Allentown communications manager Genesis Ortega said.
