Lehigh Valley Pride is back.
“Returning to in-person Pride, that’s a great way to celebrate our community, to celebrate each other and to celebrate LGBTQ art and culture,” says Adrian Shanker, executive director of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center in Allentown, which puts on the festivities.
Shanker says this year Lehigh Valley Pride will be entirely outdoors.
“Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT community Center is going to work very hard to ensure COVID-19 safety protocols are in place,” Shanker says.
That means they will sell fewer tickets this year to keep crowds smaller. He also says the theme of this year’s pride is “You Are Included.”
“That means incorporating sign language interpretation all day on stage,” Shanker says. “That means having reserved seating for older adults and people with disabilities.”
Performers this year include drag queens from Ru Paul’s Drag Race and LGBTQ singer songwriters.
